Apple to boost 2006 capital spending

Apple has said it has plans to boost is capital spending in 2006 by US$280 million, reports the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal. Apple noted this in a regulatory filing, saying was due to the company’s plan to build a second campus in Cupertino, CA. Its today capital expenditures are set at $700 million. “The computer and mobile entertainment device company said it it expects to use about $210 million to expand its retail segment and $265 million for real estate acquisitions,” notes the story. “It also said it expects about $225 million for replacement of existing capital assets and enhancements to general information technology infrastructure.”
