Apple introduces MacBook Pro, replaces PowerBook

Apple today unveiled its new MacBook Pro notebook computer featuring the new Intel Core Duo processor, which the company claims delivers up to four times the performance of the PowerBook G4. The new 15.4-inch widescreen MacBook Pro features a one inch thick aluminum enclosure, weighs 5.6 pounds, includes a built-in iSight video camera, the Apple Remote and Front Row software, and Apple’s new patent-pending MagSafe magnetic power connector, designed especially for mobile users. Pricing is US$1,999 for the 1.67 GHz model, and $2,499 for the 1.83 GHz version. MacBook Pro will be available in February, and is available for pre-order now.
