LaCie introduces new, improved d2 hard drive range

LaCie today announced the launch of its fourth-generation d2 Extreme range of external hard drives. The company says the d2 Extreme drives are ideal for audio/video editors who demand professional performance to edit, store and exchange large projects, even in cross-platform environments. Features of the new d2 drives include: capacity from 160GB to 2TB in ultra-compact metal case, speeds of 88MB/s per drive and 800Mbits/s per bus, triple interface (FireWire 800, FireWire 400/iLink, Hi-Speed USB 2.0), ultra-quiet smart fan on some models and improved natural heat dissipation, and more. LaCie d2 Extreme drives come in three case sizes: LaCie Bigger Disk Extreme (from US$899), LaCie Big Disk Extreme (from $399), and LaCie d2 Extreme (from $179). All of these drives will be available from LaCie’s Web site today.
