Report: iTunes phone to launch at UK’s V Festival

According to a report in The Sunday Telegraph yesterday, Motorola will “debut” its new iTunes phone at the V Festival in the UK, notes The Register. “The festival is sponsored by Virgin Mobile, so the carrier may be the first to agree to offer the product in the UK. As the smaller of the five biggest UK carriers, Virgin is probably less troubled by the iTunes phone’s lack of support for over-the-air music downloads than the other networks are said to be. While some carriers have been said to be unwilling to back a handset that doesn’t force users to pay for expensive GPRS downloads, Virgin is likely to prefer the brand awareness that will come with the iPod-like handset.” The V Festival takes place August 20 and 21.
