AOL launching free email service

AOL is launching a free, ad-supported email service, reports USA Today. The new service will be tied to the company’s existing AOL Instant Messenger service (AIM) and is available in beta testing now for Windows systems. Eventually, the service will also allow users to send and receive mail over the Web. Each account comes with 2 gigabytes of storage space, comparable to other free Web-based email services. No word on future Macintosh support was provided.
