Microsoft comments on Tiger compatibility

With today’s announcement of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger availability, Microsoft has provided an update on compatibility between the new operating system and the products of its Macintosh Business Unit. “Microsoft strives to ensure that Mac BU products run seamlessly on each new Apple OS and take advantage of new technology that will enhance the overall user experience,” the company said in a statement provided to MacMinute. “A large part of the team’s success in achieving this goal can be attributed to the strong and productive partnership with Apple.” Microsoft said that upon installation of Tiger, Spotlight will be able to index Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. The company said it is working with Apple to identify potential issues when running Virtual PC 7.0.1 on Tiger and will will release a free update “within the next two to three months” to address any issues.
