Canon rolls out new digital cameras, camcorders

At the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) trade show today in Orlando, Canon introduced a number of new digital imagaing products, including the EOS Digital Rebel XT SLR camera, new PowerShot compact cameras, and a trio of camcorders. The 8.1-megapixel EOS Digital Rebel XT (pictured at right) features an APS-C Canon CMOS sensor, DIGIC II image processing technology, and wide range of custom and manual controls in a smaller, more compact body than its predecessor. The EOS Digital Rebel XT model is offered in two kit configurations: with and without Canon’s EF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 II zoom lens. The estimated street price for the zoom lens kit will be US$999, while the body only kit will be $899.
