‘Silence’ can be confusing on iTunes

On February 5th we reported that Apple was selling several music tracks containing only silence on the iTunes Music Store. Apple consequently restricted the sale of one of those tracks (from Sonic Youth) with the purchase of the entire album, saying that the band had requested the change.

iPod mini arrives in Apple Stores Feb. 20

The iPodlounge notes that Apple retail stores have added a notice to their automated phone system that confirms the iPod mini will be available on Friday. “The iPod mini is expected to be available for sale beginning Friday, Feb. 20th at 6:00 p.m. If you wish to be contacted when the iPod mini arrives, please visit us in person and we will be happy to add your name to our Product Request System and notify you when the iPod mini begins arriving.

iPod finally outdone… by iPod mini

“Finally, somebody has outdone the iPod,” writes Rob Pegoraro for the Washington Post. “After years of unsuccessful attempts by Creative, Dell, Rio, Samsung and others to knock Apple’s MP3 player off its pedestal, we’ve got a player that makes the iPod seem like the oversize, clunky relic it (now) is. That player is Apple’s iPod mini, a US$249 gadget not much bigger than a cell phone.
