Maine high school students receive iBooks

Thirty-six Maine high schools that opted to use local money to pay for iBooks for ninth graders have received the laptops. “Thirty-one schools went through with a state plan to lease the machines for $300 each from Apple,” reports the Associated Press. “Five other schools brokered their own deals with the computer giant. The laptops were delivered in October. Teachers are training to use the machines and workers are installing wireless networks in each of the schools. Mountain Valley leased 300 machines, enough for the entire freshman and sophomore classes. Four technicians are setting up the machines, and the school hopes to present them to students by Dec. 1.”
