Will U2 release new album on iTunes early?

Now that pirated versions of U2’s new album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb have made their way onto file-sharing networks two weeks before it goes on sale, some are expecting the band to move up the release date as other artists have done. Earlier this summer, a rough version of the album was stolen during a photo shoot in France. Fearing that the album would show up on file sharing services for free, U2’s lead singer Bono said: “If it is on the internet this week, we will release it immediately as a legal download on iTunes, and get hard copies into the shops by the end of the month,” he said. “It would be a real pity. It would screw up years of work and months of planning, not to mention f***ing up our holidays. But once it’s out, it’s out.”
