Columnist on iPod’s success, dangers

Another columnist has weighed in [see related story] on Apple’s tremendous success with its iPod line of digital music players. While praising the company’s fourth quarter success, with iPod sales in particular, Arik Hesseldahl writes in his commentary column on Forbes.com that Apple still faces several dangers. “What might spoil Apple’s party? A digital music standard format that isn’t of Apple’s choosing,” notes Hesseldahl. “The record labels are starting to make noise about wanting a single digital audio format and a unified digital rights management (DRM) scheme for all vendors.”
