In a report on the recent speculation that Apple is close to a settlement with the Beatles’ Apple Corps, CNET News.com says that those rumors are unfounded. The site also notes that the surviving members of the band are now discussing ideas for digital distribution with online music services but are asking for as much as US$15 million for six months of exclusive rights. With Apple CEO Steve Jobs being an avid Beatles fan, some say an immediate alliance could come to light when the two companies resolve their trademark dispute. The Beatles are reportedlly looking to create an online “ministore” for the band, where song downloads might be offered along with DVDs, videos and interviews. Apple has not produced such a store, but it has created a separate category for Disney works inside the iTunes Music Store.
