Jobs places late night phone call to iTunes winner

As noted earlier today, the 100 millionth song downloaded from the iTunes Music Store was purchased by Kevin Britten, of Hays, Kansas. As expected, he will soon receive a 17-inch PowerBook, a 40GB iPod and a gift certificate for 10,000 iTunes songs as part of Apple’s 100 million downloads contest. What wasn’t expected was that Apple CEO Steve Jobs would personally call the winner. According to Britten, Jobs called the 20-year-old college student around 12:45 a.m. local time to congratulate him. “My dad answered and told me someone was on the phone and said he was Steve Jobs,” Britten said. “Kind of a weird night, but I’ll take it.”
