Apple wants ‘all the music’ for iTMS

Apple is reportedly “on a mission to sell all the music there is,” reports CBS Marketwatch. The article adds that Alex Luke, director of music programming and label relations for Apple’s iTunes unit, is “hunting down everything from out-of-print singles in a music company’s vaults to songs that have never been released,” according to the Los Angeles Times. And a recent deal with Motown Records has seen the record label agree to license to Apple its first 45 singles plus 45 classic albums. Harry Weinger, vice president of artist and repertoire at Universal Music, which controls the Motown library, said 95 percent of its catalog is unavailable to the public, CBS Marketwatch notes.
