IBM plans PowerPC event

IBM’s chip group has scheduled a special March 31 event in New York to discuss PowerPC and Power server processors, according to ZDNet. It’s anticipated that IBM executives will discuss a range of processors and perhaps the company’s chip manufacturing efforts. Apple uses the PowerPC 970 in some Mac desktops and the Xserve server. Plus, the company has incorporated the Power PC 970FX, the latest incarnation of the PowerPC chip, into its Xserve G5. New information on some of IBM’s existing PowerPC processors may be disclosed as well, ZDNet notes.
