ISMA releases first technical specification

The Internet Streaming Media Alliance (ISMA) has made available ISMA Encryption and Authentication Specification 1.0, the group’s first content protection specification designed to lay down the framework for secure content delivery over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, and prescribe interoperability between encoders, streaming servers, and players that comply with open, standards-based technologies. It’s the first technical spec released under the auspices of the new ISMA Board of Directors, which includes representatives from Apple, AOL, Sun, ContentGuard, IBM, Envivio and VBrick. ISMA is a non-profit corporation whose goal is to “accelerate the market adoption of a universal, open standard for streaming and progressive download of rich media over all types of IP.”
