South African Apple market share small but growing

Apple grew its South African revenues by 22 percent last year and saw unit sales rise by 18 percent thanks to “an imaginative product line, a revamped retail and corporate sales strategy, coupled with the improved rand exchange rate,” according to an ITWeb report. And though the company still has less than 2 percent of the local billion desktop market, that’s double the market share Apple had “after being absent from the country for the eight years before 1994,” the article adds. Plus, the company has about 80 percent of the market share in the graphics design, desktop publishing and video-editing segments, according to ITWeb.
