Analysts expect new low-cost iPods at Expo

Analysts expect Apple to unveil new, lower-cost iPods next month when Apple CEO Steve Jobs takes the stage for his keynote address at Macworld Expo in San Francisco, reports Reuters. The new iPods, which will be available in a variety of colors, will hold 400 to 800 songs and are expected to carry a price tag of about US$100. “Odds are it’s a flash-memory-based player, something to position Apple against the low-cost offerings from Creative and Rio,” said Rob Enderle, principal of market search firm the Enderle Group, in the story. In addition, the report goes on to say that Jobs will also announce a revamped version of its iLife software, which would mean new versions of iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD and iTunes. Apple declined to comment on the story.
