Web Crossing, Inc. Releases New Wiki Plug-In

WEB CROSSING, INC. RELEASES NEW WIKI PLUG-IN

— Now Easily Integrate Wiki Web Into Online Collaboration Environment in
Minutes, Without Any Programming —

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., October 1, 2003 — Web Crossing, Inc. today
announced a powerful Wiki plug-in that enables easy Wiki Web page
collaboration in a Web Crossing 5.0 environment. Free for a limited time
for any Web Crossing 5.0 installation, additional information can be found
at (http://www.webcrossing.com/wiki/). Web Crossing 5.0 administrators can
download the Wiki plug-in immediately and install it in a few clicks via
the Control Panel.

“Wiki is an exciting addition to a Web Crossing collaborative environment,”
explained Tim Lundeen, president and CEO of Web Crossing, Inc.
“Technically, Wiki is about creating shared, editable Web pages, but
practically speaking, it is more about collaborating on ideas and content,
or building an ad hoc knowledge base. The Wiki Plug-in is another great
example of how easy it is to extend Web Crossing’s core functionality in
minutes, without any programming.”

Wiki Plug-in Tracks Collaboration
Instantly extending the system to include Wiki collaborative areas for
group content creation in simple Web page format, the new Wiki plug-in is a
quick download and installs directly into a Web Crossing 5.0 environment
with no configuration necessary. Now groups can instantly create linked Web
pages, collaboratively edit page content, even track changes, directly from
their Web browsers.

Web Crossing Wiki pages can be created “on the fly” in a few keystrokes and
edited with full quick editor support, yet are locked from changes while
being edited. Web Crossing Wiki can be access protected with a high degree
of flexibility. For example, editing can be reserved for a specified group
of users with read access allowed to everyone, or can be made completely
private, viewable only by collaborators.

At a glance, the powerful Wiki activity summary page shows what’s been
edited, when, and by whom. Old versions can be listed and viewed in the
Wiki. Notification of changed pages is available via RSS or email
subscription. Wiki administrators can revert to an older version, if
necessary, to recover from errors or unwanted changes.

Fully indexed search of Wiki pages is blazingly fast. The Web Crossing Wiki
can be completely integrated into the Web Crossing collaboration
environment, for standard features such as subscriptions, full site search,
bookmarks, message center access, etc.

Web Crossing 5.0 Makes It Easy
The new Wiki plug-in highlights the new customization and extensibility
architecture of the recently released Web Crossing version 5.0. Now with
Web Crossing 5.0 it is easier than ever for administrators to add and
update software modules in just a few clicks with no programming required.
Plug-ins are downloaded by simply clicking on the “shop for plug-ins” link
from within the Control Panel.

Web Crossing 5.0 also includes a new WebFiles mirroring system used with
Web Crossing 5.0’s new built-in Web publishing feature that allows users to
create and edit entire home page directories via most modern browsers. All
files added or modified using WebFiles or FTP are automatically
synchronized in real-time with the host file system for additional
flexibility and simplicity when maintaining large sets of files.
