Informatix Software has announced a Mac OS X version of Piranesi, its award-winning 3D painting application. With the software, “designers can start with simple models and renderings, and use Piranesi’s patented 3D Painting technology to quickly fill in missing detail and produce artistic, hand-drawn effects.” Piranesi images can be produced from 3DS or DXF models; in addition, many popular Mac 3D applications such as Artlantis, formZ, and LightWave provide direct interfaces. The Mac version of Piranesi also contains a number of enhancements not yet available in the Windows version, including new multi-fill styles, automatic contrast adjustments, and improved support for pressure sensitive pens. Pricing and availability were not provided.
