Ableton has announced Live 2.1, a free update to its popular sequencing instrument for Mac OS 9 and OS X. Version 2.1 brings full ReWire Master and Slave support, allowing Live 2.1 to run seamlessly with Digidesign Pro Tools 6.1 or any other ReWire application. The update also offers support for Sound Designer II files under OS 9 and OS X. In addition, Live 2.1 supports Direct I/O and easily connects to Digidesign hardware. Live 2.1 will be available online in late July. Abelton is currently conducting public beta testing of version 2.1, which is available to everyone, even if you are not yet a Live user.
