Steve Jobs meets the Segway

An excerpt from “Code Name Ginger,” a new book on the development of the Segway scooter, gives a glimpse of a “combustive” meeting that Apple CEO Steve Jobs attended to give his first impressions of the device. Among several pieces of advice, Jobs reportedly said: “I think it sucks. Its shape is not innovative, it’s not elegant, it doesn’t feel anthropomorphic. You have this incredibly innovative machine but it looks very traditional.” Steve Kemper, author of the book, was given complete behind-the-scenes access to the Segway design team and inventor Dean Kamen during development of the “human transporter.”
