Apple releases new Safari beta

Apple today released Safari 1.0 Beta 2 (v74), the latest version of its popular Web browser. According to Apple, the update is recommended for all Safari users and improves how Safari validates the authenticity of Web sites that use SSL certificates. We reported last week on a Secunia advisory that said Safari failed to validate the Common Name of a SSL certificate, making it “possible to spoof SSL sites, so that users can’t trust the authenticity of a SSL Web site.” The new version is available via the Software Update preference pane.
