OWC expands Mercury Elite line, lowers prices

Other World Computing (OWC) today announced it has increased the capacity of its line of Mercury Elite FireWire + USB 2.0/1.1 combo hard drives to as much as 250GB. In addition, all prices of existing models in the line have been reduced by as much as 11%. The new 7200RPM combo drives, which feature two FireWire ports and one USB port, are available in the following capacities and prices: 250GB/8MB of cache (US$479.99, 200GB/8MB ($389.99), 180GB/8MB ($339.99), and 160GB/2MB ($339.99). New pricing for the existing products in the Mercury series is as follows: 120GB/8MB ($249.99), 120GB/2MB ($229.99), 80GB/2MB ($199.99), 60GB/2MB ($179.99), and 40GB/2MB ($167.99). Also of note, the folks at MacNET let us know that they’ve posted an interview with OWC president Larry O’Connor, in which he talks about his involvement with the new iBox project.
