MARKET

Exabyte VXA Automation Certified with Dantz Retrospect Software for Windows
and Macintosh

BOULDER, CO, March 25, 2003 – Exabyte Corporation (OTCBB: EXBT), a
performance and value leader in tape backup systems, and Dantz Development
Corporation, the leading provider of backup and restore software for small
and midsize businesses (SMB), today announced that they are teaming to
provide storage data protection solutions for the SMB market. Dantz has
certified Exabyte’s AutoPak 1×7 and AutoPak 1×10 tape autoloaders, as well
as the 430 tape library with VXA-2, with Dantz Retrospect=AE backup software
for the Windows and Macintosh platforms. Now SMB customers have superior
storage data protection solutions that are automated and exceptionally easy
to manage.

The AutoPak 1×7 desktop tape autoloader with VXA-2 provides highly
affordable and convenient automated data storage in a compact design for an
MSRP of $3,299. The product offers more than 1 TB* of storage capacity and
performance of up to 43.2 GB/hr. Available with a SCSI interface, the
AutoPak 1×7 provides automated access to seven data cartridges and one
VXA-2 tape drive. The seven-cartridge magazine is removable, facilitating
convenient media loading/unloading and offline storage.

The AutoPak 1×10 2u rack mount autoloader with VXA-2 is designed to
complement low-cost, low-profile 1u and 2u rack-mount servers. With an MSRP
of $3,499, the AutoPak 1×10 optimizes the use of valuable rack space.
Supporting one VXA-2 tape drive and up to 10 data cartridges, the AutoPak
1×10 provides capacity of up to 1.6 TB and performance of up to 43.2 GB/hr.

Highly data-intensive applications can benefit from the unattended
operation provided by the Exabyte 430 Tape Library with VXA-2. Designed to
support a variety of system architectures, the 430 supports up to four
VXA-2 tape drives and 30 cartridges for a maximum capacity of 4.8 TB and
performance of up to 173 GB/hr. The 430 tape library comes standard with a
SCSI interface, entry/exit port for secure access to individual cartridges
and a bar code reader for enhanced media management.

Designed specifically for small and midsize businesses, Retrospect backs up
business-critical information on networked file servers, 24×7 application
servers, desktops, and notebooks running Windows, Macintosh=AE, and selected
Unix=AE-based operating systems. Retrospect utilizes proven automated
technology to make backups and restores easy, fast, and 100% accurate.

“Exabyte’s VXA automation products and Dantz’ Retrospect backup and restore
software are both designed to meet the needs of the SMB market, and
together they form a very powerful storage solution,” said Kelly Beavers,
vice president of marketing at Exabyte. “What is most exciting about our
Exabyte-Dantz autoloader solutions is that the price is comparable to many
standalone drives. This means that customers can now afford all the
benefits of automation – including easier management, greater capacity and
better performance – with the same budget they have allotted for a single
tape drive.”

“Dantz works closely with leading hardware manufacturers to provide our
customers with outstanding storage data protection solutions that meet the
unique needs of the SMB market, and our collaboration with Exabyte has been
excellent,” said Tony Barbagallo, vice president of marketing at Dantz.
“The result is an outstanding cross-platform storage solution that provides
an affordable way for customers to protect their business critical data.”
