Konfabulator 1.0 released

Arlo Rose and Perry Clarke have released Konfabulator 1.0 (US$25), a JavaScript runtime engine for Mac OS X that lets you run small files called Widgets. According to the developers, Widgets “can do pretty much whatever you want them to.” They can be alarm clocks, calculators, tell you your AirPort signal strength, fetch the latest stock quotes, or provide your current local weather. “The format for these Widgets is completely open and easy to learn, so creating your own Widgets is an extremely easy task.” Konfabulator takes full advantage of Apple’s Quartz rendering, and offers a fully “skinable” interface, allowing you to easily change the look, feel, layout, or functionality of a Widget.
