Palm CEO says handheld market recovering

Palm said today that the market for its handheld devices and software was close to moving back into growth after more than a year of declining sales. “We’re already in positive territory for PalmSource,” Palm Chief Executive Eric Benhamou told Reuters. PalmSource is Palm’s operating system software unit, due to be spun off and made independent later this year. Palm’s hardware stands to benefit from increasing capital investments in technology, Benhamou said. “Enterprises will start to spend a little bit more in 2003 than in 2002. The expectation is for some modest growth, a recovery, in many parts of the tech.”
