Fourth World Ships WebMerge 2.2

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fourth World Ships WebMerge 2.2

LOS ANGELES, California – 23 January, 2003 Fourth World today released 4W
WebMerge 2.2, an update to its popular tool for Mac OS and Windows that
generates static Web pages from database or spreadsheet data. The new
version supports multi-column index page layouts, a new tag for including
external files, enhanced support for JavaScript and CSS, and a number of
other new features.

WebMerge works with any database or spreadsheet that exports in
tab-delimited, Merge, or other tabular format, including FileMaker Pro,
Microsoft Access, and AppleWorks. Using HTML template pages created by the
user, WebMerge makes a new HTML page from the data in each record of the
exported file. WebMerge can also create index pages with links to each of
the detail pages. Generated pages can be hosted on any Web server without
the need for a specialized database hosting solution.

New features in WebMerge 2.2 include support for multi-column index pages,
a new tag that inserts a text file or HTML file referenced by a path in
field data, and all navigation tags (WM-LinkNext, WM-LinkIndexNext, etc.)
now allow attributes in the generated link, such as JavaScript function
calls and CSS assignments. The interface has been also been enhanced,
adding a Favorites menu for quick access to commonly-used settings files, a
new “Preview in Browser” button in the results window so you can quickly
view the generated files in your browser, and more.

“Multi-column layout was a hotly requested feature,” said Richard Gaskin,
president of Fourth World Media Corporation. “Together with the new tag for
including external content and the enhanced support for JavaScript and CSS,
we’ve opened up WebMerge for a great many more users with this upgrade.”

“The multi-column feature will let us use WebMerge on even more projects,”
said Web developer Charlie Lockhart of Lockhart Design. “Two of our biggest
accounts have numerous catalogs that we have been grinding out manually for
the web, but can now do them with WebMerge and save a tremendous amount of
time.”

WebMerge 2.2 is available in a free download at the publisher’s Web site:

WebMerge can be used for free to generate up to 20 pages and has all
features enabled with no time limit. Registered copies of WebMerge have no
limit on the number of pages that can be generated.

A single-user license costs US$79. Licenses can also be purchased in groups
of five or ten at a substantial discount, making it even easier for Web
developers to share their workflow solutions with their clients.

WebMerge requires Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP or Mac OS 8.0 or later, 64 MB
total memory, and 5 MB disk space. The Mac version is available for both
Mac OS X and Macintosh Classic.
