Exabyte announces FireWire version of VXA-2 tape drive

Exabyte today announced the availability of VXA-2 with FireWire, a new version of its VXA-2 tape drive specifically designed for “Mac users’ intensive multimedia storage needs.” Exabyte is unveiling its newest product at Macworld Expo this week. The VXA-2 tape drive is designed to deliver a native capacity of up to 80GB and a compressed capacity of up to 160GB, while maintaining full read and write compatibility with the first generation VXA-1 tape drive. The VXA-2 with FireWire works with Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) and has a suggested retail price of US$1,693.
