University of Delaware students head to Antarctica equipped with Macs

A group of photojournalism students from the University of Delaware will voyage to Antarctica next month with gear from Apple and Canon to “learn about and photograph a place that few ever have seen.” The News Journal reports that the students will post their results live to the Internet at the class Web site, using donated equipment. Apple has given eight laptops to the class, Canon has provided 18 digital cameras and lenses, and CNN has loaned two satellite phones. The topics that will be studied include the harsh environment of Antarctica, the unique wildlife of the continent that includes penguins and killer whales, and the unusual geopolitics of the region.
