Copy Protection WIBU-KEY Network functions enlarged: WIBU-KEY is now
available for Mac OS X (native) and Linux

Karlsruhe, 11-11-2002. The new software version 3.30 expands the network
functionality of the copy protection system WIBU-KEY and now offers
platform independent support on Windows, Macintosh and Linux. This makes
for a very flexible license management system. At COMDEX 2002, booth 821,
WIBU-SYSTEMS will present the new software version of the copy protection
system WIBU-KEY. The latest version 3.30 supports Mac OS X and Linux within
a network environment via a console application. The hardware WIBU-BOX/U
for the USB interface can be used cross platform with identical functions
for Windows, Macintosh and Linux. The server software will be started in a
shell extension on the Linux operating system. WIBU-KEY running on Linux
can be used for all common Linux distributions. The existing version
already allows copy protection and license management within a network
system for all variants of Windows and Mac OS 9. Therefore WIBU-KEY now
runs cross platform at both the server and client’s site, as well as on
heterogeneous environments. The server process of the console application
controls the activation of licenses within a network system. This means,
for example, that the software manufacturer can program the WIBU-BOX/U for
single stations as well as for network systems. The “Remote-Programming”
feature allows programming from a distance and it is helpful for the
implementation of changes such as the number of licenses. Additional to
license management WIBU-KEY offers sales opportunities like Electronic
Software Distribution or Pay-Per-Use, running on Windows, Macintosh and
Linux. This means a high degree of flexibility for all software
manufacturers enabling them to meet different customer needs in a very
secure way. More information is available at +49-721-93172-0, via fax at
