Apple upgrades PowerBooks to 1GHz with SuperDrive

Apple today announced a major upgrade to its Titanium PowerBook G4 notebook line with PowerPC G4 processors running at up to 1 GHz, what the company says is the industry’s first slot-loading SuperDrive for reading and burning both CDs and DVDs, the fastest mobile graphics processor, the ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, and integrated 802.11 wireless networking. Pricing for the new PowerBook starts at US$2,299. Complete configuration and pricing information is available in the press release. It is interesting that this announcement comes a day before Microsoft officially launches its new Tablet PC portable.
