Apple in favor of CA computer recycling proposal

California lawmakers have put forward a measure that would require computer makers to charge customers a US$10 fee at the point of sale to recycle the machines, a move that has some local companies crying foul. Apple, however, is in favor of the law. The company opposed the bill when it was first introduced, but later agreed to support it when language was added that would require companies that sell over the Internet to charge the fee as well. Apple is the only computer maker to come out in favor of the legislation, according to Bloomberg. Governor Gray Davis has until September 30 to sign or veto the measure.
