Earthlink announces new access software and ad campaign

EarthLink today announced TotalAccess 2003, the newest version of EarthLink’s Windows-only Internet access software and Pop-Up Blocker, new software that allows users to block pop-up advertisements while surfing the Web. To coincide with the release of the software, Earthlink is also launching a new advertising campaign entitled “Why Wait?”, which encourages consumers to examine their current internet experience and ISP and urges them to move to Earthlink to seek an alternative to delays, drop-offs, pop-up ads and excessive spam. The ad campaign, reminiscent of Apple’s “Switch” campaign, will be featured in national TV, radio, print, and online ads that begin running this week. Regarding a new Mac version of EarthLink’s software, spokesperson Carla Shaw told MacMinute, “Development is underway for TotalAccess for Mac. We expect to release a beta/preview for our subscribers around the end of the year.” Shaw added that the company is investigating a Mac version of Pop-Up Blocker, as well.
