Washington Post: .Mac not worth $100

Following a chorus of other negative reviews of .Mac by technology writers, Washington Post reporter Rob Pegoraro writes in his Sunday column that Apple’s re-designed iTools “doesn’t add up to US$100 worth of value.” Pegoraro gave high marks to iDisk and HomePage, but blasted McAfee’s Virex as “not that good” and Mac.com e-mail as lacking filtering and syncing with a desktop address book. “I am perfectly willing to pay for a service like iDisk or HomePage – just not $100 a year. Apple is trying too hard to cash in on its customers’ loyalty, and I doubt most of them are that generous.” The existing 2.2 million iTools users can take advantage of a special introductory offer of $49.95 for the first year through September 30.
