Granite Digital has started shipping its new Smart Drive Series of FireWire enclosures, which feature low-profile, external storage enclosures with built-in LCDs and keypads for accessing information on the FireWire-IDE bridge, the hard drive, the FireWire connection, and the host computer. The enclosures utilize Granite Digital’s FireVue 1394-IDE bridge controllers, which feature the Oxford 911 chipset capable of transferring data up to 40MB/sec. The Smart Drive enclosures are priced at US$199.
