ATI bolsters foray into set-tops

ATI will be acquiring NxtWave Communications for US$20 million in an effort to bolster its position in the set-top market, the company announced today. NxtWave develops broadband communications chips used in digital terrestrial and cable receivers. Separately, the company announced that Scientific-Atlanta plans to use ATI’s Xilleon-based products in its Explorer digital interactive set-tops.
