NetMinder Ethernet 5.0

Neon Software Announces New NetMinder Ethernet 5.0

Essential Network Management Application Features Security Alerts, Native
Mac OS X Support, and More

LAFAYETTE, CA – May 15th, 2002 – Neon Software announced today the
immediate availability of version 5.0 of NetMinder(r) Ethernet, their
software-based network protocol analyzer and traffic monitor.

“NetMinder Ethernet gives network managers the ability to easily view the
activity on their networks,” said Craig Isaacs, Neon president. “Version
5.0’s new security alerts and native Mac OS X support make NetMinder
Ethernet a must-have application.”

Version 5.0 includes several new features and enhancements:
* Native Mac OS X Support
* Customizable Security Alerts
* Increased Capture Performance with Mac OS X
* IP Traffic Filters
* Wireless Network Analysis
* Expanded Library of Packet Decodes
* tcpdump Standard File Format Support
* Redesigned User Interface

“NetMinder Ethernet is rock solid on Mac OS X,” stated Russ Carleton,
Technical Director of Live Networking, Inc. “The new IP-based filters make
it very easy for even novice users to capture just the packets they want.
As always, the real-time analysis graphs, charts and Packet Inference
windows make network status work fast and easy.”

Packet Inference is a key Neon technology and is designed to be powerful
and extensible. More rules can easily be added as more security risks are
discovered.

Increased Security
NetMinder Ethernet 5.0 includes an alert system complete with three levels
of security and a variety of alert mechanisms — email, pager, and SNMP
trap notifications.

NetMinder Ethernet’s security features are based on Neon’s Packet Inference
system. Packet Inference can detect security risks such as port scans,
denial of service attempts, duplicate IP addresses, and worms such as the
Code Red worm.

Wireless Networking (802.11b)
Many network administrators are required to manage, troubleshoot, and
secure wireless networks. NetMinder Ethernet allows administrators to
collect and analyze packets using AirPort-equipped computers.

In addition to troubleshooting and managing planned wireless networks,
managers can use this capability to track down rogue networks and identify
networks that fail to implement SSID and encryption.
