University mandates Apple laptops for teaching program

Beginning this fall, students entering the University of Texas’ teacher preparation programs will have to have an Apple iBook or PowerBook running Mac OS X to enroll, according to an article in today’s Austin American-Statesman. The school will provide financial assistance for those who need a laptop that meets the specifications and also offers students an iBook bundle that retails for about US$2,500 for just $1,000 as part of an agreement with Apple.
