Netscape browser share falls to single digits

In the past seven months, usage of Microsoft’s Windows-only Internet Explorer 6 has climbed from 2.5 percent to 30.50 percent, according to WebSideStory. In the same period, Netscape has seen its global market share fall from 12 percent to just 7 percent. WebSideStory notes that if America Online, which holds 13.12 percent of global Internet users, were to switch its browser to Netscape, the product would receive a significant boost and could ignite another browser war. AOL has been using Internet Explorer as its browser for years.
