Sony releases new Clie handhelds

Sony today introduced the Clie PEG-NR70V and PEG-NR70 in Japan, two new Palm OS-based handhelds that both feature a flip-up 320×480 color screen, keyboard, integrated digital audio player, and 16MB memory. C|net reports that the display can swivel 180 degrees and be folded down to cover the keyboard, allowing it to be used as a touchscreen. The NR70V also includes an integrated digital camera built into the device’s hinge. Sony declined to comment on when or if the devices would be available in the U.S., but the company typically follows up Japanese product announcements with similar releases in the U.S.
