Independent group calls new PowerPC “record-breaking”

The Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium (EEMBC) has published its benchmark scores for Motorola’s new MPC7455 processor, which is used in the 933MHz and dual-1GHz Power Mac G4 systems. While tracking down and comparing the specific scores is a bit tricky, the press release proclaims, “The MPC7455 sets new records in all five of the application areas that EEMBC benchmarks targets.” The EEMBC uses 46 benchmark kernels that each represent a different workload and stressing in communications, automotive/industrial, networking, consumer, and office automation systems.
