Apple today announced that Dr. Guy “Bud” Tribble has returned to the company as vice president of Software Technology. Tribble’s roll will be to help define Apple’s software engineering group’s technical direction, and he will be reporting to Avie Tevanian, senior Apple vice president of Software Engineering. Tribble began his career at Apple as manager of the original Macintosh Software team, and helped design the Mac OS and user interface. Most recently, Tribble was vice president of Engineering at Eazel, Inc.
