Largest piracy bust in history brings down many rings

Law enforcement officials in the U.S. and overseas executed more than 100 search warrants yesterday in what’s being called the largest bust against Internet piracy rings in history. As reported by The Register, three separate operations were carried out by federal officials, including one that involved running a “dummy” warez server to attract software pirates and gain leads to legitimate, established servers. The chief target was a Russian group called DrinkOrDie, which has now been shut down. Raids were also conducted at a number of U.S. universities, including MIT, UCLA, Duke, and Purdue.
