Adobe acquires Fotiva, hints at new digital photography product

Adobe Systems today announced its acquisition of Fotiva, Inc., a privately-held software developer specializing in software that allows consumers to manage, store, enrich and share digital photographs. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, although some Fotiva employees joining Adobe will become part of the company’s Graphics Business Unit. As part of the announcement, Adobe expressed its intent to deliver a new solution for editing, enhancing and managing digital images. “…Adobe plans to deliver a dramatic improvement over first-generation, Web-centric solutions and hobbyist-oriented software,” notes the press release. Further details on the new product were not disclosed.
