ZDNet: PowerBook G4 pushes form over function

In his most recent commentary, ZDNet‘s Stephan Somogyi explains why he thinks Apple’s PowerBook G4—even in its second revision—is a prime example of pushing form over function. “…while Apple assures me that AirPort performance with the new TiBook is improved over the first generation,” writes Somogyi, “my empirical testing shows it was improved by a relatively small increment at best. A titanium casing does not make for good radio transparency.” On the bright side, Somogyi praises the revised PowerBook’s improved heat dissipation, a slightly stiffened screen hinge, and the new square power supply.
