Mac OS X users wait impatiently for Retrospect 5

While Mac OS X users and administrators struggle to find ways to back up their data on the new operating system, Dantz Development has announced today that a Mac OS X-compatible version of their popular backup software, Retrospect, will not be available until February-March 2002, according to MacCentral. The company ackowledges that Mac OS X 10.1 has resolved some issues that prevented the software from providing comprehensive device support, but some technical issues remain that the company is working with Apple technical engineers to resolve through upcoming updates to Mac OS X. A public beta version of Retospect Client for Mac OS X is currently available, but Dantz cautions users not to rely on the beta for backing up critical data.
