Apple has kicked off a new iMac promotion that offers a US$150 mail-in rebate or free digital camera with the purchase of a 600MHz or 700MHz iMac. While details of the promotion have yet to be posted on Apple’s site, MacMinute has learned that customers who purchase a qualifying iMac between now and December 31, 2001 can receive by mail either an HP PhotoSmart 315xi digital camera (a quick check at Shopper.com reveals the lowest retail price for this camera as $169.29) or a $150 rebate check. The camera sports a 2.1 megapixel resolution, 2.5x digital zoom, 1.8-inch LCD, and an 8MB flash card. Apple recently launched a similar promotion in several European countries that offers a free HP PhotoSmart 315xi digital camera with any CD-RW iMac (500MHz included).
