Western Digital ships 120GB hard drive

Western Digital earlier this week announced a 120GB Ultra ATA/100 7200 RPM hard drive, which it bills as the world’s largest (as noted today by The Register). Pricing for the drive, model WD1200BB, is unavailable currently. Also of note, earlier this month the company began shipping a special edition model of its 100GB Ultra ATA/100 drive, which features an 8MB buffer, four times larger than normal, that boosts performance by up to 25 percent. The drive sells for US$379.
