America Online has surpassed 5 million subscribers in Europe, due in large part to its flat-rate plans in the UK, France, and Germany, the company announced today. Meanwhile, Microsoft today announced MSN 7, a new version of its online service for Windows that rivals America Online. MSN is the number-two ISP, with approximately 7 million subscribers, versus AOL’s 30 million.
